These old Victorian terraced houses are great. This one being worked on - remove old partition, stud partition doorway and decorate throughout.

Same project – I’ve got to stud and partition the doorway (but keep the door for the hall) and I bet there's a big RSJ in the between the two rooms. Pelmet curtains will have to go along with the light switch in the doorway. Cables to be hidden, new timberwork in the archway and skirting board so lots to be getting on with. Be mint when it's finished and will give a totally different feel to the living / dining rooms.

A nice traditional Kitchen - well designed. I was contracted to do all the tiling painting and decorating. Natural products like limestone are a pleasure to work with even though we had some challenges to overcome. It looked very impressive when completed and the customer was delighted.

Same Kitchen – picture details the cobblestone wall tiles. There’s no real straight edges with natural stone tiles so you have to be very careful when lining them up. The Italian Mosaic, almost black stone, complements and is a nice contrast, along with the black worktop. I was glad the client didn’t fit a marble worktop, I think it would of been too clean, bright and would of shown the dust.

Fireplaces are always difficult to sort out. Years ago in older houses everyone ripped them out - then a few years later ran back to the salvage yard to buy them back.

Today it's not too bad, as you're just stuck for choice of which design to go for and then matching the decor. Customer got really stuck with this one, and got so fed up that they decided just to have it plastered as a cube and worry about it later, when they'd found something to their liking. I hear several years later, they prefer it as it is and have done nothing further. Seems to have worked out OK!
